2nd Workshop Complexity72H! 17-21 June 2019 at IMT Lucca, Italy.

The workshop Complexity72h is an interdisciplinary event whose aim is to bring together young researchers from different fields of complex systems.

Inspired by the 72h Hours of Science, participants will form working groups aimed at carrying out a project in a three-day time, i.e. 72 hours. Each group’s goal is to upload on the arXiv a report of their work by the end of the event. A team of tutors will propose the projects, and assist and guide each group in developing their project.
Alongside teamwork, participants will attend lectures from scientists coming from different fields of complex systems, and applied workshops.
The workshop is organized and will be hosted by the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca.

Complex Networks 2019

The International Conference on Complex Networks and their Applications aims at bringing together researchers from different scientific communities working on areas related to complex networks. Two types of contributions are welcome: theoretical developments arising from practical problems, and case studies where methodologies are applied. Both contributions are aimed at stimulating the interaction between theoreticians and practitioners.

Evolution of Complex Life – May 15-17, 2019 @GeorgiaTech

The evolution of complex life is an inherently multidisciplinary problem encompassing a wide range of topics, including:

How do new levels of the biological hierarchy evolve?
How do interactions between individual organisms contribute to complex phenotypes and behaviors?
How do social behaviors evolve?
How do evolutionary novelties emerge and evolve?
How do organisms drive geochemical cycles and how do geochemical changes influence evolution?
At this conference we will bring together scientists from different backgrounds to discuss these and other important topics about one of the most salient aspects of life: the evolution of complexity.

Complex Networks: Theory, Methods, and Applications – Lake Como School of Advanced Studies – May 13-17, 2019

Complex networks: theory, methods, and applications (5th edition)
Villa del Grumello, Como, Italy, May 13-17, 2019

Many real systems can be modeled as networks, where the elements of the system are nodes and interactions between elements are edges. An even larger set of systems can be modeled using dynamical processes on networks, which are in turn affected by the dynamics. Networks thus represent the backbone of many complex systems, and their theoretical and computational analysis makes it possible to gain insights into numerous applications. Networks permeate almost every conceivable discipline —including sociology, transportation, economics and finance, biology, and myriad others — and the study of “network science” has thus become a crucial component of modern scientific education.

The school “Complex Networks: Theory, Methods, and Applications” offers a succinct education in network science. It is open to all aspiring scholars in any area of science or engineering who wish to study networks of any kind (whether theoretical or applied), and it is especially addressed to doctoral students and young postdoctoral scholars. The aim of the school is to deepen into both theoretical developments and applications in targeted fields.
